"Stephen Mostyn-Williams is rightly regarded as a pioneer in the leveraged finance market. He is one of the most commercial banking lawyers in the City, with a clarity of approach which is rare in the legal profession. Frankly, he's a breath of fresh air."

Who we are

smwlaw is a unique alternative to the giant global law firms. We are committed to achieving our clients’ commercial goals, we believe all problems can be solved and that advisors should be compensated for the value they add, not the time they spend. We charge in accordance with that belief.

We offer expertise and experience rather than execution services. We are committed to a partnership with our clients which excludes multiple representations and are focused on the provision of advice.

We specialise in structured finance, and particularly leveraged finance. Our expertise is built on over twenty years of experience in the structured finance markets and we have worked on many of the deals that have defined the leveraged finance markets as they exist today.

smwlaw was founded by its principal Stephen Mostyn-Williams. Stephen has created a supporting network for smwlaw. This consists of individual lawyers (many of whom have worked with Stephen in the past) who have agreed to be available to smwlaw on request, removing the need for an expensive infrastructure but ensuring access to relevant advice when needed.

In addition smwlaw has close contacts with leading firms and individuals in all relevant jurisdictions. It can call upon cross border advice and resource on a project basis.
